my story

Wednesday, July 7, 2010

hi, my name is.

it all started almost a year and a half ago. i had just set up my google reader account and i was browsing various blogs of interest to build my "reading list." i stumbled across a blog that would end up opening my eyes to a community i never before knew existed. it was like the wardrobe that lead to narnia- a portal that introduced me to a virtual world that blew my mind, challenged me, terrified me, pushed me and also, in its own way, embraced me. it was the online CF community.

let me take a step back and formally introduce myself. my name is emily. i'm 25 years old. i'm a proud philadelphian- born and raised. i'm a graduate of upenn, where i majored in communications. i currently work in marketing for a health system and i am also pursuing a masters in bioethics at night. i come from a tight knit family of 6. my sisters are 15-year-old twins (julia and annie) and i have 19-year-old brother (coby) who goes to college in new orleans.

truth be told, if you had suggested 18 months ago that i'd be starting my own blog, i would have called you crazy. foolish, even. but somehow, amidst (or, really, probably because of) the hundreds of blog entries and forum messages i have pored over this past year-and-a-half, this blog-shy CFer has come into her own. i credit the dozens of brave, honest and wise bloggers who generously share their deepest, most personal CF insights and experiences with empowering me to dig deep within myself and articulate my own voice. my hope is for this blog to be a real and evolving narrative of a 20-something with CF pursuing life full speed. the highs, the lows and especially the intricacies in between.

sweet dreams, ekg.

  1. Yes! Emily's blogging! I saw this link on CF2 and literally got so super excited. Welcome to the great world of the online CF community. I know I speak for many when I say I can't wait to read your thoughts, insights, rants, musings, and, well, all that comes along with "digging deep within [yourself] and articulat[ing your] voice."
